Varanasi: 5 kW home system

Verde Solaire installed a 5 kW rooftop solar system at a home in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, and published the installation on 1 June 2024. The customer, Sushma Pandey, later wrote on the company's testimonials page that her electricity bills had noticeably decreased.

The post itself is short. It gives the capacity, the city and the scheme, and states that Verde Solaire is registered to provide the subsidy to homeowners who install a plant on their residence. It does not name the modules, the inverter, the yield or the bill before and after, so none of those appear here.

The photo shows the array on a raised structure above the parapet, with the roof still usable underneath. Whether a roof needs that structure or a flush mount is settled at the site survey, which is why the written quote follows the visit rather than the phone call.

What the subsidy on 5 kW looks like

The central subsidy is 60% of the benchmark cost for the first 2 kW and 40% for the part between 2 and 3 kW, capped at 3 kW, so a 5 kW system gets the same ₹78,000 as a 3 kW one. Uttar Pradesh adds ₹15,000 per kW, capped at ₹30,000 per consumer, on top of the central subsidy, under the state's 2022 solar policy. Together that is ₹1,08,000 for this home.

Not yet official. Confirmed by news reports in September 2026; UPNEDA's site did not load when we checked, so there is no official 2026 confirmation.

The company published its price ladder in July 2025, a year after this installation, so the figures below are the current published range and not this project's cost. A 5 kW system is listed at ₹3,25,000 to ₹3,50,000 before subsidy, which nets to ₹2,17,000 to ₹2,42,000 after the combined subsidy. Sushma Pandey's review names the capacity and the city, which is how this project is matched to the post. She writes that she recently had a 5 kW solar plant installed in Varanasi by Verde Solaire and is extremely satisfied with the results, and goes on:

A second Varanasi customer, Mahender Nath Mishra, wrote on the same page that the plant was installed in very quick time and that a member of the firm helped with all the processes, including the documentation for net metering. Net metering in Varanasi runs through Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PUVVNL); the process is on the Varanasi net-metering page.

Registered vendor, local office

Under the scheme, the installer must be a vendor registered on the national portal, and you choose the vendor on pmsuryaghar.gov.in. Verde Solaire is a registered PM Surya Ghar vendor in both Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, and it runs a branch office at Chetgunj in Varanasi alongside the Noida head office and the Delhi registered office; the addresses are on the offices page. What this project shows

It followed the company's 2 kW Varanasi installation published on 22 March 2024, which did name its equipment: Adani 540 Wp modules and a KSolare inverter.
